Sri Lanka stunned England in the third match of the ongoing Tri-series in Pakistan, chasing down the target of 430 to win with a ball to spare in Rawalpindi on Thursday.

Pavan Rathnayake’s 130, coupled with 97s from Avishka Fernando and Dasun Shanaka, helped the side record the second-highest successful chase in ODI cricket history.

Harry Brook became the first English batter to score a double hundred in the first innings, propelling the team to its fourth-highest ODI score.

En route to his 202, he broke the record for the fastest double hundred in the fifty-over format, previously held by Shubman Gill. Tom Banton, Joe Root and Will Jacks all contributed half-centuries.

Sri Lanka lost two early wickets in the form of Kamindu Mendis and Kusal Mendis, but a mammoth partnership between Fernando and Rathnayake laid the platform before the middle order chipped in to complete a famous win.
