Olivia Rodrigo ‘so excited’ to release first Christmas single

Translate

Olivia Rodrigo has said she is “so excited” to release her first Christmas single.

The 23-year-old popstar will release her festive track, Take Me Home (4 Christmas), on Friday morning.

It appears the song will be accompanied by a music video which features Sex And The City star Cynthia Nixon as well as US comedian and actor Ben Marshall.

Rodrigo announced the news in a post on Instagram which featured photographs of the singer wearing a Santa Claus hat, matching red heels and a polka-dot skirt with a striped red and white top.

The outfit was completed with matching red lipstick and a black leather jacket.

She said: “My first Christmas song ‘take me home (4 christmas)’ is out this Thursday at 5 pm pt/ 8 pm ET!!

“You can pre order it now. I’m so excited!!!”.

Rodrigo also shared a teaser video for the song which featured a group of people, including Nixon and Marshall, where everyone has to guess who they have written on a label stuck to their Christmas crowns – with everyone’s tag spelling out the singer’s name.

“Am I smaller than a breadbox,” Marshall asks.

Nixon later can be heard asking a number of questions including, “Am I living? Am I a president? Am I in the arts?”

The seasonal track comes days after Rodrigo released a remixed version of her song Expectations alongside Pink Pony Club singer Chappell Roan.

The original song appears on her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love, which she released earlier this summer.

The pair also performed at Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival in August.

The US singer – known for the songs Deja Vu, Vampire and Good 4 U – released her debut album Sour in 2021, which climbed to the top of the UK charts and won the best pop vocal album and best new artist Grammy in 2022.

Two years later, she released her second chart-topping album Guts, which included the songs So American, Obsessed and Bad Idea Right.
