Exclusive: Hollyoaks star reveals dramatic fallout if Jonah is caught out

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks star Lewis Walton has predicted that his character Caleb Keane could forgive his dad Jonah if the schemer's cruel deception is finally exposed.

Caleb is currently being manipulated into believing that he's seriously ill, as Jonah is desperate to keep him close.

Earlier this year, Caleb and his on-off girlfriend Frankie Osborne were all set to leave the village together, but Jonah stood in their way by secretly drugging Caleb and making him ill.

Although Caleb has received the all-clear at the hospital, Jonah is continuing to insist that his son has a worrying, undiagnosed illness which the doctors must be missing.

When we caught up with Lewis at the Inside Soap Awards recently, we asked how Caleb will react when the truth inevitably comes out.

"I think he would feel incredibly betrayed – incredibly upset," Lewis told us. "Because their bond is everything. They've bonded over [Caleb's late mum] Debbie and gone through that traumatic event together.

"I think he'd be heartbroken – but I don't think that'd be the end! Because I think it comes from love in this specific situation. He wants to keep me close. There's been a really big, traumatic event and he's worried to let me go, I guess!

"I think he'd be able to see that side, but it'd take a long time to rebuild that connection."

The pressures of Jonah's deceit have driven Caleb and Frankie apart recently, but Lewis teased that there's still a future for them.

He told us: "I think they want the same for each other. They want to be happy and they're going to make sure they bring that to each other's lives, because it's what each of them wants.

"I think it's such a good relationship. There's going to be fights, but they can easily overcome all of that.

"There are big things in the pipeline with Caleb and Frankie, and I'm really excited to show it all."

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
