Manchester United injury update: Marcus Rashford, Benjamin Sesko, Kobbie Mainoo latest news and return dates

Translate

Manchester United are sweating over a number of injuries as the Premier League gets set to reconvene after the international break.

There is some good news regarding Bruno Fernandes, who has shaken off a minor injury which ruled him out of one Portugal match to continue representing his nation.

Several of his team-mates have not been so lucky, though, with plenty dropping out of international duty. With Tottenham visiting Old Trafford in less than a week’s time, it is hard to say how many United players will be fit to feature.

With that said, here is all the latest Manchester United injury news and potential return dates...

Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford picked up a knock in the second half of United’s draw at Fulham before the international break, and subsequently dropped out of England duty.

He had landed awkwardly after a heavy tackle, and Carrick later revealed he had suffered a minor issue.

"We had to bring him off, as he had a bit of an issue. I'm not sure [if he's alright],” said Carrick at Craven Cottage.

He should be fit to return to the pitch after three weeks of rest, but Carrick will issue an update on his condition ahead of Tottenham’s visit to Old Trafford.

Potential return date: October 10 vs Tottenham (H)

Benjamin Sesko

Benjamin Sesko has been forced to withdraw from Slovenia duty after aggravating the shin injury which ruled him out of the latter stages of last season and the early stages of this campaign.

It was thought he was back to full fitness when he started against Sabah, but he was a surprise exclusion for the trip to face Fulham.

Carrick said of the Slovenian: “It was a pain in his shin. We’re not sure with him yet. He felt a bit of pain after the game. We’re assessing him. He definitely wasn’t ready for today.”

The previous instance of this injury ruled Sesko out for the best part of four months, so it remains to be seen when he might return from this latest flare-up.

Potential return date: Unknown

Kobbie Mainoo

Kobbie Mainoo is another United star who sparked concerns by withdrawing from international duty.

No clear issue has been given for his withdrawal, but he was listed among injured players by Thomas Tuchel and is thought to be managing his load.

As such, it is hoped he can feature as soon as United reconvene after the international break.

Potential return date: October 10 vs Tottenham (H)

Amad Diallo

Amad Diallo

Amad Diallo has yet to appear this season after picking up an ankle injury in the summer.

Speaking before the international break, Carrick suggested he was weeks away from a return, meaning he may be closing in on his first appearance of the season after taking three weeks to rest and build up his fitness.

Potential return date: October 10 vs Tottenham (H)

Patrick Dorgu

Patrick Dorgu is the primary casulaty from this international break after he was forced off early in Denmark’s Nations League clash with Wales having picked up an apparent hamstring injury.

He has returned to United for an assessment, the result of which has yet to be revealed. Carrick will tell all in due course.

Potential return date: Unknown

Matthijs de Ligt

Matthijs de Ligt is fast approaching a year on the sidelines with a nebulous back injury for which he underwent surgery in the summer.

He travelled with the United squad to face Fulham, but was not named in the matchday squad. He will hope to feature when Tottenham visit Old Trafford this month.

Potential return date: October 10 vs Tottenham (H)

Noussair Mazraoui

Noussair Mazraoui was forced off early with an apparent injury as Morocco beat Lesotho 2-0 last week.

He travelled with the squad to face Mali on Sunday, though, suggesting any issue he picked up was only minor.

Potential return date: October 10 vs Tottenham (H)

Karl Darlow

Karl Darlow dropped out of Wales’ squad for this international break citing injury.

The nature and severity of his issue is not clear.

Potential return date: Unknown

Manuel Ugarte

Manuel Ugarte remains in recovery after undergoing surgery on a ruptured ACL.

He is set to miss the vast majority of the season, but, after being transfer-listed last summer, it remains to be seen whether he will play for the club again.

Potential return date: Spring/Summer 2027

Tom Heaton

Tom Heaton has been absent since picking up a hamstring injury while facing Paris Saint-Germain in a pre-season friendly in August. Little information about his condition has been made public.
