The Member of Parliament for Bekwai, Ralph Poku-Adusei, has distributed 450 streetlights and 2,500 LED bulbs across the constituency under his “Let Bekwai Shine” initiative.

The distribution, which took place on Sunday, October 18, covered all 34 electoral areas and schools, while the LED bulbs were allocated to tertiary and second-cycle institutions, hospitals, health centres and other key institutions.

Mr Poku-Adusei said the initiative was in response to calls from constituents for additional streetlights and LED bulbs to improve visibility and security in their communities.

He explained that the installation of the lighting facilities was intended to brighten the constituency and reduce incidents of crime and attacks carried out under the cover of darkness.

According to the MP, improved lighting would also help residents and businesses carry out their activities more safely, while supporting economic activity across the constituency.

“Bekwai must shine!” he said, describing the initiative as part of his broader vision to make the constituency self-sufficient.

The intervention is expected to improve lighting in public spaces and key institutions, with the distribution of streetlights across all 34 electoral areas aimed at extending the benefits to communities throughout the constituency.
