Egyptian Football Association to dismiss Hossam Hassan
Officials at the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have decided to dismiss Hossam Hassan as the head coach of the Egyptian national team.
Al-Masry Al-Youm learned that EFA officials have resolved to part ways with Hossam Hassan and Ibrahim Hassan following various recent controversies.
The EFA has determined that the upcoming matches against Malawi, as part of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, will be the final games for the current coaching staff.
Tarek Soliman will take charge of the team on the touchline for the matches against Malawi, as Hossam Hassan is currently serving a three-match suspension.
According to the source, the most likely successor to Hossam Hassan will be an Egyptian head coach, with several candidates under consideration—particularly Hossam al-Badry and Ali Maher.
The decision is expected to be officially announced following consultations with the EFA’s Technical Director, Shawky Gharib.
Malawi match
The final decision will be reached following the formal announcement of the coaching staff’s dismissal and the completion of the two matches against Malawi—especially given that some are calling for the appointment of a foreign head coach.
There were several suggestions to postpone the announcement of the decision until after the international window this November, so as not to affect the national team’s performance in the matches against Malawi.
The Egyptian national team will enter a closed training camp this November in preparation for their two matches against Malawi, which form the third and fourth rounds of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The first leg will be hosted at Cairo International Stadium on November 13 at nine pm, while the return leg will take place on November 17 at Bingu National Stadium, at three pm (Malawi time).
