Widow's Bay Cast Reacts to Woody Harrelson Crashing Their Emmys Win

Though Woody Harrelson may have slightly overstayed his onstage welcome after Widow’s Bay was announced as the winner for Outstanding Comedy Series at the 2026 Emmys, it was no sweat off the cast’s back.
“We're all huge fans of his,” series creator Katie Dippold exclusively told E! News backstage after their win. “He’s probably one of the most famous people in the entire world.”
In fact, the cast and crew of the Apple TV series—which includes stars Matthew Rhys, Kate O’Flynn, Kevin Carroll and Stephen Root—would be more than happy for him to appear in season two.
But with a caveat. As director Hiro Murai noted, “We’d have to put a lot of prosthetics on him or something.”
Root echoed the need for a disguise, adding, “You’d need to put a lot of makeup on him to do this show,” after which Rhys quipped, “It’d be like a Glenn Close moment in Hook.”
But jokes and invitations aside, having Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey present the award was something out Dippold’s wildest dreams.
“I did not anticipate that at all,” she admitted. “That was just that was shocking. It was pretty great.”
But a Harrelson appearance on Widow’s Bay isn’t the only possible crossover being floated. After it was revealed the cast of The Pitt would love to see Widow’s Bay residents on their show, star Jeff Hiller joked, “It’d be a hell of a ferry ride.”

Indeed, if the residents of the cursed island were somehow able to make it safely offshore, Dippold added, “I would love to see Jeff running around an emergency room as Dale. That seems like that's a lot of fun.”
After which Rhys couldn’t help but quip, “With something intravenous hanging out.”
Widow’s Bay was the big winner at the close of the Sept. 14 ceremony with 14 awards, including wins for Rhys, Root and O’Flynn.
For the latter, seeing audiences fall in love with Patricia was “like a big hug,” O’Flynn told E! News. “It’s just fantastic.”
