Egypt, Thailand explore advancing economic, investment, and trade ties

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa affirmed the Egyptian government’s keenness to develop cooperation with Thailand across various sectors, especially economic, industrial, educational, and cultural fields, noting that the state prioritizes attracting foreign investment by enhancing business competitiveness and offering necessary incentives to support investor expansion.

This came during a meeting on Sunday, September 13, 2026, between the Deputy Prime Minister and Second Deputy Speaker of the Thai House of Representatives Lertsak Pattanachaikul and his accompanying delegation, attended by Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Counselor Hany Hanna, Thai Ambassador to Cairo Thanawat Sirikul, and Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Amr Hamza.

The meeting focused on upgrading Egyptian-Thai relations and expanding bilateral cooperation in economic, investment, parliamentary, and educational domains, while exploring mechanisms to increase trade volumes and encourage Thai investments.

Welcoming the delegation, Issa praised the growing momentum in bilateral relations rooted in long-standing friendship, voicing Cairo’s commitment to building on shared achievements toward broader horizons.

Issa highlighted Egypt’s competitive strengths, including its strategic location as an export hub to Arab, African, and global markets; its free trade agreements; and recent infrastructure upgrades in transport and energy that position Egypt as an ideal manufacturing and re-export base.

He urged Thai firms to seize local market opportunities in priority sectors, affirming government readiness to provide full facilities to support their expansion and boost bilateral trade.

For his part, Pattanachaikul affirmed Thailand’s interest in advancing ties across trade, investment, education, and parliamentary fields.

He highlighted Thai companies’ interest in expanding in Egypt to leverage promising market opportunities and increase bilateral trade exchange.

He also voiced appreciation for Egyptian support given to Thai students in Egypt, stressing the importance of high-level visits and direct air routes to spur tourism, trade, and cultural ties.

Both sides concluded by underscoring the need to capitalize on positive bilateral momentum to broaden investment, expand trade, and serve mutual interests.
