Fifth Doctor star Peter Davison, Seventh Doctor star Sylvester McCoy and Jo Jones star Katy Manning have returned to the world of Doctor Who, for a spooky Big Finish box set for Halloween.

The audio drama box set, which is available to purchase now, is called Doctor Who: Halloween - Doctor, Doctor, Doctor and Other Stories, and is made up of four full-cast episodes, each with a horror theme.

The title story, Doctor, Doctor, Doctor, is a Seventh Doctor adventure starring McCoy and written by Stewart Pringle and Lauren Mooney.

The synopsis says: "In the 1980s, four physics students find themselves drawn to a strange mirror, seemingly haunted by a ghastly figure carrying a distinctive umbrella…

"As they experiment with the mirror, they begin to lose themselves in its mystery, as the entity within seeks to break into their world."

Tom Alexander, Zara Malik-Ryan, Peter Davison, Sarah Sutton and Paul Bown, stood against a wall.

Story 2, titled The Song of the Reed Man, stars Tim Treloar as the Third Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Jones, and has been written by Katherine White.

The synopsis says: "When the Doctor and Jo land in the marshes of Essex, in 1562, they find themselves at the dawn of England’s witch hunting mania.

"But lurking beneath the waterways, there lies an ancient evil, ready to hunt and feast. Can the Doctor help an isolated coven see reason, before it’s too late?"

Pena Iiyambo, Debbie Chazen, Oliver James Parkins, Georgia Cook, Esther Hall and Eugene McCoy, stood against a grey backdrop.

The third story is a UNIT adventure by Georgia Cook and Fio Trethewey, titled Office Space.

The synopsis says: "It’s Max’s first night shift at the UNIT liaison call centre in Chester, screening emergency calls from the public for signs of extraterrestrial threat.

"But tonight the calls hold something far deadlier, and soon Max and his colleagues find themselves fighting for their lives to survive against the night itself."

Meanwhile, the fourth and final story, Overworked, stars Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor and Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, and is written by Hannah Kennedy

The synopsis says: "When the TARDIS locks on to a signal calling out for a ‘doctor’, Nyssa and the Doctor are brought to a hospital on Earth in 1974.

"However, with the help of cleaners Harold and Sophie, they discover that something is very wrong with the patients here, something otherworldly."

Writer on the first story, Pringle, said in a statement: "When we were set the challenge of writing a horror-inspired Doctor Who, we thought back to some of our favourite classic horror stories, including The Gatecrasher by Ronald Chetwynd-Hayes, in which a man comes into possession of a mirror containing an entity which drives him to murder.

"It’s a classic horror trope, and we thought, what’s the Doctor Who version of that? We thought about the game in schools where you say ‘Bloody Mary’ three times in the mirror and this thing pops up, but maybe a cooler version is if, when you say that three times, the Doctor appears – and what if it’s a monstrous version of the Doctor?"

Meanwhile, Cook, co-writer of Office Space, added: "UNIT are now this huge corporation with a skyscraper in central London, and there must be parts that we haven’t seen, more civilian-driven aspects of it. We really liked the idea of writing something for a group of people stuck in the Doctor Who universe without the help of the Doctor. Which, with all of the monsters and aliens and threats, can be a bit of a horror scenario."

This Halloween box set will be followed by another for Christmas in December, titled Doctor Who: Christmas - Out of the Dark and Other Stories.
