Jakarta (ANTARA) - Wushu athlete Seraf Naro Siregar secured Indonesia’s first medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Sunday, claiming bronze in the men's changquan event at the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall.

Performing first in a field of 21 competitors, Siregar executed a smooth routine to set an early benchmark score of 9.720—comprising 5.00 for movement quality, 2.720 for overall performance, and 2.00 for difficulty.

He maintained the lead through the next six performances before being narrowly edged out by Macau’s Kuong Chi Hin, who took gold with 9.723 points, and Song Chi Kuan, who captured silver on a tiebreak at 9.720 points.

"First of all, I express my gratitude to Jesus Christ for protecting and guiding me throughout my preparation for the Asian Games," Siregar said after the event, calling the podium finish a significant career milestone. "I have dedicated my whole life to this major event."

The podium finish in Japan adds to Siregar's growing collection of international achievements.

The 24-year-old previously won bronze in the men's daoshu and gunshu combined event at the Hangzhou Asian Games, alongside a silver medal at the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China.
