Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is set to hold a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Russia, this week.

Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergei Tolchenov confirmed that the summit is expected to take place during President Prabowo's official visit to Russia from September 1 to 4, 2026.

"A bilateral meeting is expected to take place, with the exact timing to be confirmed by the Russian Presidential Office," Ambassador Tolchenov told reporters following a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The envoy noted that the upcoming summit underscores the strong diplomatic ties between Jakarta and Moscow, marking the fifth official summit between Prabowo and Putin over the past two years.

Tolchenov expressed hope that the high-level talks will translate prior bilateral agreements into concrete, actionable projects across various strategic sectors to benefit both nations.

The Russian envoy also confirmed broad Indonesian participation at this year’s EEF.

A prominent delegation from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) will attend to conduct business-to-business dialogues, while representatives from Aceh Province are scheduled to speak on Asia-Pacific regional development panels.

The summit comes shortly after Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yury Ushakov confirmed Prabowo's key role as the guest of honor at the Vladivostok forum, reinforcing Moscow's push to expand strategic partnerships across the Asia-Pacific region.

Ushakov also confirmed that President Putin is scheduled to hold a bilateral session with President Prabowo on September 3.

In addition to the bilateral talks, both leaders will address the forum's main plenary session alongside key regional dignitaries, including Mongolian Prime Minister Nyam-Osoryn Uchral, Myanmar Vice President Nyo Saw, and Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang.
