BJP slams Rahul Gandhi for claiming Murmu accepted 'vote chori'

NEW DELHI: A day after Rahul Gandhi claimed President Droupadi Murmu "accepted" opposition's vote chori allegation, BJP ramped up its attack on him, saying he displayed ignorance of protocol and common sense.

It said his assertion was in keeping with his past unsavoury references to constitutional positions.Rahul's claim prompted officials in Rashtrapati Bhawan, who normally keep away from political rows, to clarify that his remarks were incorrect and unfortunate.

Union minister Piyush Goyal said it was a matter of shame that Rahul had no respect for constitutional authorities. "Rahul displayed his arrogance, disregard for courtesies and ignorance of both law and common sense".BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said accepting a memorandum was normal procedure, but Rahul claimed the President had accepted his arguments while saying she had asked for evidence. Calling it a statement by a "nalayak" neta, Patra alleged that no attempt had previously been made to drag the President into the opposition's political confrontation.BJP asked why Rahul had not carried evidence if he had any, and whether he was worthy of occupying the prime minister's chair or any position.
