Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in federal court Wednesday, according to federal court records.

The Super Bowl champion filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas and reported more than $3.45 million in debt. The 26-year-old claimed $2.1 million of that debt stemmed from lawsuits.

Rice was sued by multiple victims of a 2024 high-speed, multicar crash in Dallas. He is also being sued by an ex-girlfriend who alleges he assaulted her between 2023 and 2025.

Rice listed his Super Bowl LVIII ring, valued at $160,000, as collateral with Thomas McMurray, his attorney in the pending civil litigation, according to court documents.

OutKick reached out to McMurray, the Chiefs, and Rice's bankruptcy attorney for comment but did immediately get a response from any of them.

When Rice was drafted, he signed a four-year, $6,495,208 contract with the Chiefs. Chapter 7 bankruptcy is intended for "individuals who have financial difficulty preventing them from paying their debts and who are willing to allow their non-exempt property to be used to pay their creditors," according to Rice's bankruptcy filing.
