American Horror Story future confirmed ahead of crossover event finale for season 13

Translate

As fans wait for the final episode of the current thirteenth season, American Horror Story has officially been renewed for season 14.

The horror anthology, which was co-created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, was renewed for three more seasons back in 2020, which takes it to the end of its current season – which had previously been rumoured to be the last.

But now, just days before the season 13 finale, it’s been confirmed that FX has commissioned another instalment.

The renewal will extend the show's record as FX's longest-running hourlong series.

American Horror Story started with Murder House back in 2011, before fans were subsequently treated to Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel and Roanoke. These chapters were followed by Cult, Apocalypse, 1984, Double Feature, NYC and Delicate.

Season 13 serves as a landmark run for the anthology and acts as a crossover, with Murphy reuniting a huge array of franchise favourites for the occasion.

Returning alum who appear as multiple characters they previously portrayed include Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Billie Lourd, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman and Joey Pollari.

Speaking about season 13, Murphy previously told Entertainment Tonight that: "It is like The Avengers! Where they all come together to defeat the ultimate evil."

He continued: "It's all the seasons. So Sarah Paulson is playing six or seven roles. Jessica Lange is playing all four of her iconic characters. Evan Peters is playing five characters. And of course Kathy Bates and Emma Roberts and Billie Lourde."
