Army raids terrorists’ enclave, neutralises suspect, recovers arms – Official

Troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA have raided a suspected terrorists’ hideout where they neutralised a suspected terrorist and recovered weapon and motorcycle in Gudu Local Government Area.

This was contained in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Olaniyi Osoba, on Sunday in Sokoto.

Mr Osoba, a Lt. Col., said the troops acted on credible intelligence and advanced toward a suspected terrorists’ camp in the vicinity of Karani village.

According to him, upon making contact with the hostile elements, the troops responded with decisive firepower, neutralising one terrorist while others fled to the nearby bushes.

He said an exploratory search of the camp led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle with ammunition.

“The troops recovered items which include one AK-47 rifle loaded with live ammunition, one operational motorcycle, military camouflage uniforms and various maintenance tools and logistical supplies.

“Troops executed clearance operations in the surrounding forest axis to dominate the general area and deny fleeing elements freedom of action,” Mr Osoba said.
