‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ Comic Book Series Launching in January (EXCLUSIVE)

New achievement! “Dungeon Crawler Carl” is getting a comic series!

The popular fantasy, LitRPG books by author Matt Dinniman will receive an ongoing comic book series from Vault Comics. The double-sized, 48-page first issue will launch in comic book stores beginning in January 2027. The following issues will be released monthly.

The new comic will serialize the hit “Dungeon Crawler Carl” webtoon series. Writer Tevagah and Laurel Pursuit Studios, which provides artwork, will make the jump from the webtoon to the ongoing comic series. Artist Kuzomari also joins the series, which will have scaled-up art that fits the comic book page.

The main covers will be drawn by Nathan Gooden (“Barbaric,” “Post Malone’s Big Rig”) with variants illustrated by a rotating cast of artists including Ryan Ottley (“Invincible”), Brett Bean, Frank Cho, Clayton Crain, Yoshi Yoshitani, Katie Cook, Riley Rossmo, Tyler Walpole, Doug Mahnke, Trish Forstner and Luciano Fleitas, who’s behind the novels’ covers. More artists will be announced in the future.

“Entering the comic space is nothing short of amazing,” said Dinniman. “The fact that I get to work with some of the greatest creators and artists working today feels like a dream.”

“‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ follows Coast Guard vet Carl and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, as they try to survive the end of the world — or just get to the next level — in a video game-like, trap-filled fantasy dungeon,” the logline reads. “A dungeon that’s actually the set of a reality television show with countless viewers across the galaxy.” The novels will be adapted into a live-action Peacock TV series from Universal International Studios and Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door. Chris Yost and Eric Heisserer serve as co-show runners.
