‘R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2’ Trailer Teases Cassandra Peterson’s New Role and the Curse’s Return (Exclusive)

Something wicked this way comes in the new look at R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2.

Ahead of its Tubi premiere on Oct. 9, The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively debut the sequel’s first full trailer. Helmed by Jem Garrard, the filmmaker behind the franchise’s 2025 installment, Pumpkinhead 2 once again follows kids Sam (Bean Reid) and Becka (Adeline Lo) as a new curse awakens in Redhaven.

While still struggling with the fact that his family doesn’t remember him — a consequence of stopping the harvest curse — Sam and his friend Becka begin to notice strange things around town. To get to the bottom of this series of unsettling occurrences, the duo reteams and, in the process, discovers there’s a new crop of cursed pumpkin entities, conjured up by an ancient ritual book, just like the one that nearly took Sam’s brother Finn (Seth Isaac Johnson).

This time, the friends are facing a series of child-like pumpkin-headed monsters, seemingly victims of the previous curse, called up from the ground of Redhaven. “I would like to go back to when one murderous scarecrow was the problem,” an exasperated Becka is seen telling Sam in the upcoming film’s two-minute trailer.

Their investigative trail leads them to the town sheriff (Bob Frazer), who was responsible for keeping the first child-stealing curse alive. He reveals to the duo that he stole the cursed book from a woman named Cassandra, seemingly a local who lives on the edge of the town’s forest.

Portrayed by Cassandra Peterson, best known by horror fans as Elvira, this wise witch has powers that may be key to helping the kids stop their Pumpkinhead uprising. “I can end the curse,” she tells Becka and Sam. “The magic is strongest on the harvest moon.”

Working with others from the town, the duo once gears up to take on the powerful and deadly Pumpkinhead children to ensure no more kids are forgotten. “We don’t get to forget,” Sams says.

Inspired by Stine’s The Haunting Hour, the Tubi film is written and directed by Garrard, and also stars Matty Finochio, Sebastian Billingsley-Rodriguez, and Kendra Anderson. Pumpkinhead 2 is executive produced by James Mattagne, Joan Waricha, Harvey Kahn, Yvonne Bernard, Dan Bernard, Jem Garrard, Allen Lewis, and Rama Diallo, and produced by Front Street Pictures.

R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 is part of the “Terror on Tubi” lineup. Timed to its release, Garrard and Stine will be joined by Tubi Chief Content Officer Adam Lewinson and drag queen and actor Jimbo (RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and All Stars).
