Summer Olympics or a wildlife park? Orangutan shows off its acrobatic skills

This is the amusing moment an orangutan shows off its impressive acrobatic skills in a Chinese wildlife park.

Visitors could be forgiven for thinking they'd stumbled across the training ground for the next olympic games during their recent visit to the Xixiakou Shendiaoshan Wildlife Park in the city of Weihai in east China.

The tourists were greeted with an energetic primate who looked every inch the Olympian as it completes one rotation after another on the horizontal bar.

Orangutans are typically known to live sedentary lives, gently swinging between branches in the rainforests of Borneo, but this particular ape appears to have got a taste for the fast life, choosing instead to swing its body around.

In a performance that could rival Olympic gymnasts such as Max Whitlock and Simone Biles, the orangutan gracefully switches from holding the bar with his hands to his feet – much to the amusement of onlookers.

However, the primate soon tired of its exercise routine and returned to lounging about inside the enclosure.
