Coronation Street reveals dramatic Kit and Todd testimony in Sarah's trial

Coronation Street's Kit Green and Todd Grimshaw both have key roles to play in Sarah Platt's trial episodes next week.
As her day in court finally arrives, Sarah is convinced that she'll be sent down for defending herself against Todd's abusive ex, Theo Silverton – but could someone hold the key to her freedom and put an end to this nightmare?

Even though they're not together, Sarah is praying that Kit will agree to be a character witness at the trial. Surely the testimony of a respected copper will paint her in a positive light?
Kit refuses, much to Sarah's distress. Unbeknown to her, her ex has enough on his plate as he's about to start chemotherapy. While Kit finally shares his cancer diagnosis with Bethany, he's adamant that he doesn't want Sarah to know.
"Bethany thinks knowing what Kit's going through will push Sarah to fight for her freedom," explains our source.
"Todd eventually cracks and tells Sarah the news about Kit's condition on visiting day. She's utterly floored, and Bethany pleads with her mum to change her mind about protecting Gary Windass, who helped her cover up the crime."

Sarah has vowed to keep quiet about Gary's involvement, as a way of repaying the favour, but is it time she put her own future first? Her kids, and now Kit, desperately need Sarah back on the outside to support them. Is it time to throw Gary under the bus so he can take the blame and she walks free?
As the trial begins, hope appears to be fading fast for the accused, especially when Todd has a wobble and scuppers her chances even further…
"Tyrone sees Todd heading to work and asks why he's not in court," reveals our spy. "Todd shamefully admits he can't face reliving Theo's abuse, and the trauma of his best friend accidentally killing him.
"The fellas have a heart-to-heart, and Ty manages to convince Todd he owes it to himself, and Sarah, to tell the truth about what Theo was really like.
"Thankfully, Todd listens, and he heads off to defend Sarah's actions. Has he done enough?"

Bethany and David are still fuming with Kit for not stepping up for Sarah, and apply pressure on the conflicted copper to speak up for his old flame. Even if he won't do it for Sarah, does Kit really want it on his conscience if Harry grows up without his mum in his life?
The tense trial hurtles towards the verdict, with Gary next in line for a grilling. There's a final twist as Bethany's last-minute attempt to change Kit's mind does the trick, and he takes the stand.
Knowing Sarah's fate lies in his hands, can Kit save her from a life sentence?
