Musician Lily Allen has cancelled a concert in Auckland hours before it was due to take place, citing ill health, two days before she is due to start her Australian tour.

The artist is touring her album West End Girl, which in part tracks the breakdown of her relationship with actor David Harbour, and was scheduled to perform at Auckland’s Spark Arena before heading to Australia for a series of concerts in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

There are presently no publicly stated changes to her planned Australian schedule, which is due to start on Friday October 23 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

A spokesperson for tour promoter Frontier said on Wednesday afternoon: “Lily is resting and recuperating, with the full intention of completing the rest of the tour in Australia as planned.”

A message posted to Allen’s social media advises: “To my West End Girls in Auckland, I am so sorry to have to tell you that I have come down with a viral infection and am unable to perform tonight. I was really looking forward to seeing you all and am absolutely gutted to be letting you down. For those who travelled all the way here, please accept my apology. All tickets will be refunded and I hope to be able to come back to see you soon. Thank you so much for understanding. Love, Lily x”

Frontier’s website states: “We regret to advise the cancellation of Lily Allen’s concert on Wednesday 21 October at Spark Arena, Auckland. Following medical advice, Lily is unwell and unable to perform. Ticketholders will receive an automatic refund on their original method of payment within 14-21 days depending on their bank’s processing time.”
