Family's secret camera catches carer stealing £8,000 worth of jewellery from pensioner

00:35

A family's hidden camera caught a carer in the act as she stole £8,000 worth of jewellery from her vulnerable elderly man at his home in Oxted, Surrey.

Lara Jones, 50, of Cowden Pound Road, Markbeech, Kent, entered her client's bedroom on 26 November 2025.

Footage captured her going through drawers and wardrobes, pocketing the jewellery.

After Jones' first shift for her client, the victim's family saw an earring at the top of the property's stairs. When they returned it to a jewellery box, they noticed that items were missing and set up a hidden camera.

Jones was jailed for three years and ordered to pay a £228 victim surcharge after being found guilty of burglary.
