Raquel Rodriguez wanted her flirtation with former WWE United States Champion Carlito to end in an actual date on TV, and she says so herself. The Women's Intercontinental Champion talked about the scrapped romance idea in her interview with Chris Van Vliet. The two had some on-screen flirting, but the story never got the moment she was hoping for. She said WWE brought the idea up at different points and she would've enjoyed seeing it play out. Carlito's WWE exit in June 2025 left the angle with no clear path, though Rodriguez hasn't ruled out something down the road.

Rodriguez Wanted the Flirting With Carlito to End in a Date on WWE Television

The former United States Champion and Rodriguez got linked through their on-screen interactions, but the storyline never reached the romantic payoff she had in mind.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Rodriguez said she'd hoped the pair would get a final moment together on TV. She put it simply:

“I did wish that we would've had a moment of, like, a final date or something, you know? That would've been fun.”

Her comments give a bit more detail on where she wanted the angle to go. Instead of leaving the flirtation hanging, she wanted the two characters to actually go out on a date.

The idea was discussed inside WWE, but it never turned into a full storyline. Rodriguez confirmed it came up in conversations and the plans just didn't move forward.

Carlito's WWE Exit Left the Potential Romance Without a Television Payoff

Rodriguez also said the idea got brought up “here and there” between the two sides. She seemed open to it, even after the original plan fell through.

“A little bit, yeah. Just brought up, you know, here and there between us. But yeah, I think that would've been kind of fun. But who knows? Maybe there's hope for the future.”

Carlito left WWE for the second time when his contract expired in June 2025. Both sides agreed not to renew it, and the Puerto Rican star has since worked the independent circuit and World Wrestling Council.

Rodriguez, meanwhile, is the Women's Intercontinental Champion on RAW. She won title by beating Sol Ruca at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, on the show before SummerSlam.

Her run has also put IYO SKY in the mix as a possible challenger. SKY beat Rodriguez in a non-title match after teaming with Chelsea Green to defeat Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez on October 19.

Rodriguez got back to winning ways on November 2, when The Judgment Day defeated Green, SKY, and Tiffany Stratton in a six-woman tag team match.
