Ahmad Zahid extends condolences to families of Nepal flood victims

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has expressed concern over the safety and well-being of Malaysians affected by the devastating floods in Nepal, hoping those still unaccounted for will be found safe and reunited with their families.

Ahmad Zahid also extended his condolences to families who lost loved ones in the disaster, while expressing solidarity with the people of Nepal.

“I am deeply saddened by the devastating flash floods in Nepal, which have claimed lives, displaced families and caused widespread destruction. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Nepal, especially those who have lost loved ones and families still anxiously awaiting news of those who remain missing,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

He also prayed that ongoing search and rescue operations would be eased and those still in danger brought to safety.

“May every family affected by this tragedy be given strength and resilience in the days ahead,” he said.

According to a tally released by Nepal’s tourism board, as of 5.30 pm local time (7.45 pm Malaysian time) on Thursday, the death toll from the devastating floods rose to 359. — Bernama
