Erin Andrews says she may need an earlier appointment, and Josh Allen is the reason. The FOX Sports reporter told Charissa Thompson on the Calm Down podcast that her sit-down with the Buffalo Bills quarterback left her cheeks sore from smiling. The chat came just after a win over LA, with week six on the schedule. Allen did not stick to football either. He also opened up about life with his baby daughter, Harper, who arrived in April.
Erin Andrews on Josh Allen and that Botox line
Andrews gushed on the podcast. "How do you not like him? I just smile," she said. "Like my Botox is gone when I listen to him because I'm smiling so hard my face hurts. He is just absolutely so wonderful to be around. I was going to say adorable, but I could see the headline. 'Erin Andrews calls Josh Allen adorable.' But he's adorable."
She saw the headline coming. It showed up anyway.
Andrews also described how the interview got approved. Allen had little reason to say yes, since his team was busy preparing for the next game. He agreed on the spot.
"They came off of the win versus LA, and they were going to hunker down and go over some things here heading into week six. And he was like, 'Yeah, I'll do this. Sit down.' Come on, Josh Allen. You are so sweet. And I was so appreciative. And you said it after the interview, and I really am grateful for that."
Josh Allen's humor, press room charm and new dad moments
Allen's teammates describe a quarterback who cannot sit still when it comes to jokes. He has pranked tight end Dawson Knox and running back Ray Davis, and Knox says Allen keeps the sideline "light." Linebacker Bradley Chubb put it bluntly: "Him joking? Every day. Nonstop."
Reporters get the same treatment. On the Like a Farmer podcast, Allen was asked what he would change about the new Highmark Stadium. He hummed, stared at the sky for a few seconds, then grinned. "Oh, probably not," he said. Fans in Buffalo know the dig: the stadium has no full roof.
After a recent game, a reporter asked why he was smiling while he fought through a run against the Rams. His answer was honest and a little goofy. "I mean sometimes you kinda black out a little bit," he said.
"I love football, I love being the quarterback of the Buffalo Bills. I'm living out my dream job and, you know, going out there on the second and long play, finding a way to pick up the first with my legs, which doesn't happen a lot on second and, you know, 15 plus. Those are just the plays that, I don't know, that they feel good. And sometimes you can't help but smile."
The softest moment came when Andrews asked how Harper, his first child with actor Hailee Steinfeld, has changed him in ways he did not expect. Allen did not dodge it. "As a man, you have a daughter; it does make you a little softer. It makes you a little more affectionate. I'm more emotional and I don't think that's a bad thing. I look at her and sometimes I just want to cry. Like that's my daughter, that's my baby. Me and my wife did this."
