AR Rahman has lent his voice to a public campaign aimed at fighting cybercrime. The Oscar-winning musician released a special video message following an appeal from Sukma Police in Chhattisgarh.

The initiative seeks to make people more cautious while using digital platforms. Sukma Police shared AR Rahman's video on their official Instagram account.The campaign is carried out under the name 'Cyber Jagriti Abhiyan'. It is a joint initiative of the Chhattisgarh Police and the state government. The awareness drive began on August 15 and will continue until October 2.

The campaign is designed to educate citizens about different forms of cybercrime.

It also focuses on online fraud, digital security and responsible internet usage.

AR Rahman says in the video, "One small mistake can cost you dearly. Whether It's your OTP, bank details, PIN, or password, never share them to an unknown person. Think before you click on an unknown link and never fall for suspicious calls, messages or offers. Remember, awareness is your strongest weapon against cybercrime."Sukma Superintendent of Police Mayank Gurjar explained the broader objective of the initiative.

As quoted by ANI, he said the authorities are using multiple platforms to reach people across the state."As a move to prevent cybercrime, including online forgery, and to educate the public on safe digital practices, the 'Cyber Jagriti Abhiyan' (Cyber Awareness Campaign) is being conducted from August 15 to October 2 as an initiative of the Chhattisgarh Police and the state Government. Under this campaign, citizens are being sensitised about protection against cybercrimes, digital security, and safe online behaviour through various mediums," said Sukma Superintendent of Police (SP) Mayank Gurjar.AR Rahman's participation forms part of the campaign's wider public outreach. His message is aimed at encouraging citizens to exercise caution when using online services."In this context, following a special appeal made by the Sukma Police, the renowned singer and composer A R Rahman has released a special video message on cyber awareness," added the SP.

Sukma Police issue warning against online fraud

The authorities have also listed several precautions for citizens.

People have been asked not to disclose OTPs, PINs, passwords or banking information to unknown individuals. Sukma Police have warned people against clicking suspicious links. They have also urged citizens to verify unfamiliar calls and messages before responding.Extra caution has been advised during online financial transactions. The police have stressed that quick reporting can be important after a cyber fraud.Citizens who fall victim to online fraud have been asked to immediately approach the police. They can also contact the Cyber Helpline by calling 1930.

AR Rahman prepares tribute for Asha Bhosle

Meanwhile, AR Rahman is set to release a tribute song dedicated to legendary singer Asha Bhosle. The project is intended to celebrate Asha Bhosle's contribution to Indian music. AR Rahman released its teaser in June.The teaser featured behind-the-scenes glimpses from the making of the song. Artists, musicians and performers from different backgrounds were seen coming together for the tribute.The composer is also working on the soundtrack for the much-awaited 'Ramayana: Part 1'.
