Man in critical condition after being mauled by two dogs in Brisbane park

A 37-year-old man is in a critical condition after being mauled by two dogs in Brisbane’s north on Friday evening.

About 6.15pm witnesses called police after seeing a man being attacked in 7th Brigade Park, along Kittyhawk Drive in Chermside.

Emergency services found the man with life-threatening injuries to both arms, however the two dogs had fled.

The man, who lived locally, was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, while police teams, including Polair, searched for the dogs.

One of the dogs, thought to be pit bulls, was found on Friday night, and the second shortly after 8am on Saturday.

Brisbane City Council was deciding what to do with the animals.

The Chermside parkrun, which tracks a course through 7th Brigade Park, warned runners on Friday night that Saturday morning’s event could be cancelled due to two pit bulls on the loose.

However, about 6am on Saturday, event organisers said the run would continue on the proviso that participants not bring their dogs, and that small children be kept close to their parents.
