Watch: Michael Carrick in awkward Sky Sports interview over Manchester United sack decision

Translate

A remarkable game at Old Trafford saw Man Utd fight back from 2-0 down adn 4-2 down, with Patrick Dorgu’s 96th-minute equaliser earning an unlikely draw. But the point was not enough to drag Man Utd out of the relegation zone.

According to widespread reports, Carrick was given matches against Roma - which Man Utd won - and Aston Villa before a decision was made over his future heading into the international break.

With that in mind, Carrick was asked by Sky Sports’ Pat Davison about the prospect of talks with Man Utd chiefs over his future in the coming days, and responded in spiky fashion.

Michael Carrick awkward interview in full

Sky Sports: What do you expect to happen over the next few weeks? You’ve been asked time and again about your future? I know you have said that you walking away was the best for the club, you’d probably do it.

Michael Carrick: "It’s not going to happen, no."

Sky Sports: What do you expect to happen? Clearly there’s going to be conversation?

Michael Carrick: "Is there?"

Sky Sports: You would assume so really?

Michael Carrick: "Would you?"

Sky Sports: What do you think Michael?

Michael Carrick: "You’re telling me, what do you think?"

Sky Sports: I’m asking you, Michael. What do you think?

Michael Carrick: "You know the situation, we haven’t won enough games. But I expect to move forward with things we’ve been working on, showing a lot of the good from today tighten up a few mistakes and win some football matches."
