Johor continues to record unhealthy API levels

Johor remains the hardest hit by haze, with eight areas continuing to record unhealthy air pollutant index (API) readings this morning.
However, the overall situation nationwide has improved, with a total of only 14 areas recording unhealthy API readings as of 10am.
The eight Johor areas were Pasir Gudang with an API reading of 179, Larkin 178, Kota Tinggi 165, Tangkak 163, Segamat 161, Pengerang 160, Kluang 159 and Batu Pahat 145.
Terengganu has three areas badly affected by the haze. They are Kuala Terengganu with 157, Kemaman 156 and Paka 144.
In Pahang, two areas recorded unhealthy API readings – Balok Baru Kuantan 159 and Rompin 152.
Cheras in Kuala Lumpur is the only place affected in the Klang Valley, with a reading of 156, as Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Perak reported moderate readings in all areas.
Yesterday, the Johor government ordered schools and other educational institutions in the state to remain closed for five more days from Monday due to deteriorating air quality across the state.
An API reading between 101 and 200 is classified as unhealthy, while readings above 200 are considered very unhealthy.
