LAGOS — The Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service, VIS, has impounded 38 buses for allegedly operating illegally under the Bus Reform Initiative, BRI.
The vehicles were apprehended for operating under the BRI programme without the required licences and official approval from the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, LAMATA.
According to information from the Information Department of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation at the weekend, the buses were intercepted while operating along the Island route, from Ajah to Sura.
The enforcement exercise is part of the state government’s efforts to ensure compliance with approved regulations governing commercial transportation.
The government consequently urged all commercial transport operators to comply strictly with approved transport regulations.
It warned that operators found violating the regulations would face appropriate sanctions.
