KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8 — Police detained 195 underage teenagers and a premises manager in a raid on an unlicensed entertainment outlet in the capital after midnight last night.
Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Ahmad Azwan Amin Nordin said the teenagers detained in the operation, conducted at about 12.30 am, comprised 93 local males, 61 local females, 16 foreign males and 25 foreign females.
He said 16 outlet workers and 219 other patrons were also checked.
He said investigations found that the entertainment outlet was operating without a licence and allowing underage patrons to enter.
“The premises manager is being investigated under Section 29(2) of the Entertainment (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) Regulations 1993 for allowing underage patrons into the entertainment premises.
“All those detained, aged between 18 and 64, were taken to the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters for summonses, documentation and further investigation,” he said in a statement today.
Ahmad Azwan said checks found that none of the individuals inspected had any outstanding criminal records, while preliminary urine screening found an adult male patron positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
He said the operation reflected Kuala Lumpur Police’s commitment to ensuring public safety and well-being.
“Enforcement action will continue to be intensified to curb any illegal activities,” he said.
He also urged members of the public with information on criminal activities to channel it through the Kuala Lumpur Police Hotline at 03-2146 0522 / 03-2146 0585, the Dang Wangi District Police Control Centre at 03-2600 2222 or any nearby police station. — Bernama
