Police arrest man over alleged online threats after AFP searches home

Translate

A man charged over alleged online threats towards officers was refused bail during a court appearance on Friday, police say.

In a statement, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) said its officers and SA Police had searched a home in South Australia's Mid North and arrested a 34-year-old man.

The search came after SA Police referred a series of social media posts to the AFP's National Security Investigations team last month.

The man was charged with using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence contrary to the Commonwealth Criminal Code.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment.

The man is due to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on November 5.
