Passengers left in limbo as Delta cancels two Lagos-Atlanta flights

Following the cancellation of two scheduled flights, numerous passengers travelling on Delta Air Lines’ Lagos-Atlanta route have been stranded at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos.

The airline first cancelled Flight DL9895, which was scheduled to depart Lagos for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

Affected travellers said they were subsequently rebooked on another flight scheduled for August 25. However, the rescheduled service was also cancelled, thereby compounding their ordeal.

In a notification sent to passengers, Delta attributed the second cancellation to crew availability constraints.

The airline said: “We are sorry. Your flight DL9895 from Lagos, LOS, to Atlanta, ATL, was cancelled due to an issue that limited crew availability.”

The repeated cancellations have left many passengers sad, with several expressing frustration over the disruption to their travel plans.
