Tom Brady set a mark for the fastest quarterback to 100 wins, and on Sunday Patrick Mahomes caught it. Both needed exactly 131 games. Mahomes got there when the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Los Angeles Chargers 22-6 at Arrowhead Stadium, which pushed the team to 5-0. Brady, who now publishes his own NFL power rankings, had a few words ready. Kansas City's next stop is Seattle on Sunday Night Football, and Mahomes has only played there once.
Patrick Mahomes And Tom Brady Tie At 100 Wins
Patrick Mahomes finished 23 of 30 for 272 yards against the Chargers. Running back Kenneth Walker III carried the ground game with 128 yards and two touchdowns. Ten seasons into his career, Mahomes now sits at 117-35 when you count the playoffs.
Tom Brady still ranks the Chiefs second, behind the undefeated San Francisco 49ers. He zeroed in on the defense, which has had trouble rushing the passer this year.
"K9 and the Chiefs ran away with this one to stay undefeated with three wins in the division and four sacks coming from the defense. That's a huge improvement from a unit that struggled to get pressure. And if K.C. puts all of the pieces together at once, watch out," Brady said.
He also had a line for the record itself. "And Patrick Mahomes tied some old retired guy's record for the fewest starts to reach 100 wins. We'll reach out and see if we can get a comment on that."
HEARTBREAKING: #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes shared his first memory of the late Allen Bailey after being drafted in 2017. “I step in the locker room and see Allen Bailey, and I'm like, ‘This isn't the Big 12 anymore.'” Bailey stood 6-foot-3 and weighed 288 pounds. Mahomes says he still tells that story to young quarterbacks every year. Pat also called Bailey a great teammate and one of the glue guys who kept the team together. Rest in peace, Allen Bailey.

The sack total deserves a second look. Kansas City had been searching for a consistent pass rush, and four sacks in a division game suggest the fix may be working. Seattle will test that quickly.
What Patrick Mahomes Learned From His Last Trip To Seattle
Mahomes played at Seattle in 2018, and the Chiefs lost 38-31. He brought it up this week while preparing for the rematch.
"I think I've only played there once, and it was Sunday night," Mahomes said. "I remember it being very loud and them having a lot of passion. I might have been too amped up early in the game. I think that's stuff you learn from as you go through your career. You got to be able to manage your emotions, and manage the entire emotion of the stadium. Just go out there and execute, especially early in games in an environment like this."
He was a first-year starter that day. Since then, he has built a habit of paying attention to what a crowd is telling him. Asked this week to name a favorite regular-season win, he picked the 31-21 victory over the Chargers in Week 17 of 2019. He barely mentioned his own play. What stayed with him was the roar at Arrowhead when fans learned the Dolphins had beaten the Patriots, which handed Kansas City the No. 2 seed.
That story says a lot about how he reads a stadium. Seattle will give him plenty to read on Sunday night, with the Chiefs carrying an unbeaten record into a noisy building and the new pass rush ready for its next real exam.
