Rakuten Viki, Imaginus to Debut AI-Assisted Korean-Animated Series The Painted Soul on October 21

Rakuten Viki announced on October 9 that it will premiere The Painted Soul, a 10-episode animated series co-produced with South Korean production company Imaginus, exclusively on its platform on October 21 in select international markets.
Directed by Junbae Choi (Mouse, Stealer: The Treasure Keeper), the fantasy romance follows Yun Hwa, an apprentice spirit painter who accidentally frees Seol Jin, a mysterious man who has been sealed inside a painting for decades. According to legend, anyone who meets his gaze is doomed. As Yun Hwa grows closer to him, she must determine whether her feelings stem from fear or something more.
Rakuten Viki stated, "The concept and storytelling for The Painted Soul was developed by a team of creatives at Imaginus who utilized AI and other technologies to bring the story to life in an impactful way." Hyunjung Lee, Imaginus' chief creative officer, said the team used new technologies to strengthen the series' storytelling.
The Painted Soul will be available exclusively on Viki in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Oceania, India, and Southeast Asia.
Jaehee Hong, Viki's chief content officer, said the company plans to bring more animated content to the platform.
