EX-KAIZER CHIEFS STARLET ADEN MCCARTHY ON THE SCORESHEET IN UCL DEFEAT

McCarthy moved from Kaizer Chiefs to Sabah FK before the start of the current campaign.

And since then, he has never looked back despite being alone at his age in a foreign country.

On Tuesday, McCarthy opened his goalscoring account for Sabah, and it came in the UEFA Champions League.

The 22-year-old was named in the starting line-up against Dortmund, and he restored parity with a header in the 39th minute.

This after Guinea international striker Serhou Guirassy had given Dortmund an early lead in the ninth minute of the first half.

However, the German giants came back stronger in the second half, and Guirassy completed his brace in the 53rd minute.

In the end, Dortmund walked away with a 2-1 win over McCarthy‘s Sabah to move up to 11th on the log.

Sabah are currently 25th on the UEFA Champions League standings but still in with a chance although they will need to work a little bit harder to advance.

What’s more special is that McCarthy scored his first Sabah goal, in the Champions League, in front of his parents.

His dad, Fabian, and mom Melissa were at Baku Olympic Stadium to watch their son in action against Dortmund.
