KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Finance Minister, is scheduled to table Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat at 3.30pm today.

The tabling will be the fifth budget under his Madani Government, anchored by a clear commitment to ensure high value growth is translated equitably for the people’s wellbeing while strengthening the country’s economic resilience.

The Budget 2027 tabling will be broadcast live on various local television stations and social media platforms, including Bernama TV, which will also air its Budget 2027 Analysis programme at 8.30pm tonight.

According to the pre-budget statement on the Finance Ministry’s website, Budget 2027 is formulated to build on the strong foundation established through previous budgets.

As the second budget under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), it will continue to pursue the three Madani Economy pillars, namely raising the growth ceiling, raising the living standards floor and driving reforms in public administration governance.

The Finance Ministry said Malaysia’s economy remained resilient following bold structural reforms, including fiscal consolidation and targeted subsidy rationalisation, despite global geopolitical uncertainties and disruptions to international supply chains.

For Budget 2027, the ministry outlined 10 key focuses, including narrowing regional disparities, addressing the cost of living through targeted assistance such as the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Budi Madani, strengthening the social safety net for gig workers and preparing for the country’s ageing population by 2030.

Attention will also be given to basic services such as education and healthcare, technology driven public sector transformation through Government Technology (GovTech), workers’ welfare through a dignified wage, empowering local entrepreneurs through the ‘Made by Malaysia’ initiative, and high value investments such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI).

In a post on X yesterday, Anwar expressed hope that Budget 2027 would further strengthen the country’s economic resilience, ease the cost-of-living burden, create more opportunities and ensure the benefits of development are enjoyed more equitably by all segments of society.

According to the calendar on the official Parliament portal, the Supply (Budget) Bill 2027 will be debated at the policy stage for eight days starting next week.

The winding up by the relevant ministries is scheduled from Oct 26 to 29, followed by the committee stage debate from Nov 2 to 26 before the Bill is passed in the Dewan Rakyat. — Bernama
