The Partenopei were feeling the pressure going into this match at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, as they lost 3-1 to rock bottom Venezia last week, then scraped a 4-3 Champions League win over Bodo/Glimt.
However, they took the lead against Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma when Matteo Politano floated a free kick into the box, Marten de Roon cleared it only as far as Anguissa, who hooked a magnificent bicycle-kick into the far top corner from 14 yards.

He left goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini rooted to the spot, as it looped over a crowd of players in the middle of the penalty area.
It has been a very tough campaign for Anguissa, who turns 31 next month, as he suffered from repeated injury problems and had not found the net since a 1-0 win away to Lecce on October 28, 2025.
