Foundation distributes writing materials to Niger vulnerable pupils

Pupils of Bawa Bwari Central Primary School, Niger State, have received writing materials from a humanitarian organisation, Refuge Foundation.

The intervention is aimed at easing the cost of returning to school for children from some Niger state vulnerable families.

The initiative, implemented under the foundation’s Kits4Kids project, provided each pupil with essential learning materials, such as pencils, erasers, pens and four 80-leaf exercise books.

The gesture, which brought together pupils, parents, community leaders and representatives of the foundation, was facilitated by the Niger State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Obed Nana.

The Niger State Coordinator of the Refuge Foundation, Mrs Esther Abayomi, who represented the founder of the organisation, Mrs Ugonna Kanu, said the intervention reflected the foundation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable children and displaced persons in the country.

Abayomi said the Kits4Kids project is an annual initiative through which the foundation provides educational materials to children in different communities.

She said the organisation would continue to identify communities where interventions could make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, particularly those affected by displacement and economic hardship.

According to her, providing basic school materials remains an important part of ensuring that children are able to participate effectively in the learning process.

Abayomi pointed out, “This intervention reflects the foundation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable children and displaced persons across the country.

“The Kits4Kids project is an annual initiative through which we provide educational materials to children in different communities.

 “The organisation will continue to identify communities where interventions will make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, particularly those affected by displacement and economic hardship. Providing basic school materials remains an important part of ensuring that children can participate effectively in the learning process,” she said.

The traditional ruler of the Bawa Bwari, HRH Isaac Isa, commended the foundation for extending its humanitarian intervention to the community, describing the gesture as timely and prayed for continued blessings for the founder and members of the organisation.

Isa also appealed for further interventions, including scholarship opportunities, to enable more children from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue their education.

Similarly, parents and community members expressed profound appreciation for the intervention, noting that the provision of basic learning materials could help reduce some of the financial pressures associated with sending children back to school.
