Rockstar's Next Game After GTA 6 Officially Confirmed

We are officially on the homestretch when it comes to the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, and as the first Rockstar title since 2018's Red Dead Redemption 2, it is safe to say that it has been a long time coming. After two major delays, and it having been 13 years since the last Grand Theft Auto entry was released with Grand Theft Auto V back in 2013, the 19 November release date is beckoning us with open arms.

However, despite perhaps the biggest game launch of all time still being two months away, it has not stopped fans from speculating which title Rockstar will be working on next.

What Is Next For Rockstar?

With Rockstar Games being considered one of the greatest video game studios of all time, it is no surprise that fans want to see what the future holds, especially as it is the brains behind both Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead franchises. However, some of Rockstar's lesser known, yet still equally successful franchises, are still waiting in the wings, and it appears as though that is what will be next for the studio.

Rockstar has previously confirmed that it will be publishing the Max Payne remakes that are currently in development over at Remedy Entertainment. Set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in one comprehensive package, we can expect this to be the next major release from Rockstar, albeit not as its developer.

That being said, it is worth remembering that whilst Remedy Entertainment made Max Payne and Max Payne 2, it was Rockstar that was the brains behind Max Payne 3, so it will be interesting to see how this is interpreted in the upcoming remakes.

What about GTA Online?

With the launch of the next Grand Theft Auto title comes the accompanying Grand Theft Auto Online mode. However, Rockstar is yet to confirm when we can expect the new iteration of GTA Online to be released. At the time of writing, GTA VI is marketed as a "single-player experience", so when it is released, we can expect GTA Online to be offered as a different, standalone purchase. However, when this will be, remains to be seen.

As such, we can expect Grand Theft Auto Online to be the next major title developed and released by Rockstar Games following the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI on 19 November. We can only hope that GTA Online will not be too far behind. Whilst there is no denying that GTA VI will have longevity for a single-player experience, it is its online mode that has kept fans interested for the past decade, and so, it must live up to expectations.
