Mexico City has produced a record 10 million cempasúchil plants for Day of the Dead, a 53.8% increase on last year. The flowers were grown by producers in Xochimilco, in Mexico City’s southern outskirts, with government support. They are generally available across the capital for 15 to 30 pesos per plant. The city is also hosting free Day of the Dead events, including a monumental Catrina display in the Zócalo and a cempasúchil trail in Chapultepec Park.
Discover more about this iconic flower and why it matters in our latest MND Tutor.
