Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia strongly condemned the deadly attack on a Greek Orthodox church in Jordan’s Karak governorate on October 23, expressing solidarity with King Abdullah II and the Jordanian people.

“Indonesia strongly condemns the brutal armed attack at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Karak, Jordan, on October 23, 2026, which caused multiple deaths and injuries,” Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry said in a social media post on Monday.

The Indonesian government and people extended their deepest condolences to the victims’ families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

Indonesia expressed solidarity with King Abdullah II, the Jordanian government and the Jordanian people following the attack, which killed nine people and injured 34 others.

Indonesia also backed Jordanian authorities’ efforts to maintain national stability and security and bring those responsible for the attack to justice.

Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry said its embassy in Amman was closely monitoring developments and coordinating with local authorities following the incident.

“These steps are intended to ensure the safety and security of all Indonesian citizens in Jordan,” the ministry said.
