KOTA KINABALU: The late Zara Qairina Mahathir's mother, Noraidah Lamat, arrived at the Kota Kinabalu Court Complex this morning to testify at the inquest into her daughter's death.

Dressed in a baju kurung and wearing a face mask, Noraidah arrived carrying a JusticeForZara poster.

She appeared calm as she entered the court complex, accompanied by her legal team.

Proceedings are being conducted before Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan.

As of yesterday, 81 witnesses had testified since the inquest began on Sept 3, 2025.

Zara was found unconscious on the ground floor of her school hostel on July 16, 2025.

She was pronounced dead the following day at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Her remains were exhumed on Aug 9, 2025, before a post-mortem examination was conducted the following day at the Forensic Medicine Department of Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

On Aug 20, 2025, five minors, identified by the pseudonyms Students A, B, C, D and E, were charged in the Court for Childresn with insulting Zara.
