Pitso Mosimane announces new Bafana Bafana goalkeeper coach

Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane has announced Marcus Mashilo as the new goalkeeper coach for the national team.

MARCUS MASHILO IS THE NEW BAFANA BAFANA GOALKEEPER COACH

Mashilo takes over from Grant Johnson who had been working for Bafana Bafana on interim basis under Hugo Broos.

He was previously with Golden Arrows but Mashilo is a well-travelled goalkeeper coach having also worked at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mashilo spent 11 years with the Sundowns senior team between 2013 when Mosimane was there until he left in July 2024.

The veteran goalkeeper coach also had a stint with Marumo Gallants, but he gets to reunite with Mosimane at Bafana Bafana.

Unlike the rest of the technical team, Mashilo joins Bafana Bafana on a part-time contract, and he somehow completes the backroom staff.

As reported by The South African earlier, Bafana Bafana are already in camp to prepare for their next three games.

Mosimane’s first assignment will be against Guinea in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on 26 September.

Kick-off at Orlando Amstel Arena is at 15:00.

They will then travel to Egypt to face little-known Eritrea in the second match on 30 September before playing an international friendly with Egypt on 4 October.
