Coronation Street's Sam Blakeman confesses to another crime in early ITVX release

Translate

Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) is heading down a dark path in Coronation Street.

Just weeks ago, the teen was released from a psychiatric ward after being diagnosed with schizophrenia following a severe psychotic breakdown. His declining mental health began after discovering that PE teacher Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) was grooming his classmate Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale).

He began to see experience worrying hallucinations of Will, and an aggressive, imaginary version of his close friend Roy Cropper (David Neilson) - who told him to seek revenge on his enemies.

Since being discharged from the hospital, Sam has struggled with the stigma surrounding his diagnosis. Uncle David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) was reluctant to allow the teen to hold his newborn cousin, while dad Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) has, on occasions, prevented himself from using the correct terminology for fear of alienating his son.

Last week, after Sam's phone was confiscated, he went on a warpath to track it down.

The device was last sighted was in the Rovers, and after noticing that the pub was closed for the day, the youngster went in to try and find it. He heard a noise coming from the cellar, and when approaching, was asked by auntie Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) why he was there.

He panicked, pushed her backwards, and she fell down the staircase.

An investigation was launched to try and find the culprit, with Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) hauled in for questioning. Sam was left guilt-ridden, especially when he saw innocent Carl being carted off in the back of a police car.

No evidence was found to support claims that he was responsible, and so later that day, Sam headed to the hospital to visit Eva. The sight of him suddenly brought back a memory, and she outright asked if he was responsible.

In today's episode, it became apparent that she'd chosen not to tell partner Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) the truth. He was vowing to kill whoever had attacked her, while a nervous Sam watched on.

Eva then gathered sisters Leanne and Toyah Battersby (Jane Danson and Georgia Taylor) to the pub, where she told them what had happened the day before. They were in disbelief, and when relaying this to Nick, he too couldn't believe that Sam could commit such an act.

After coming clean, the youngster then had another admission to make. The reason he needed his phone so desperately was because he'd invested £6,200 in crypto currency.

The trio of parents wondered how he could afford it, to which Sam admitted to using his dad's identity.

What repercussions will there be for Sam?
