After tumultuous in-fighting and legal disputes over the past few years, the members of Journey are getting along splendidly these days. So much so, that they want to turn their farewell tour into a “long goodbye.”

With about a month left in their fall North American tour, guitarist Neal Schon took to the band’s social pages to let fans know that the response to Journey’s recent shows has brought the band members “closer together”:

“After completing 110 shows in 2026, we’ve felt something powerful happen within JOURNEY. Playing two and a half hours each night in our ‘Evening with JOURNEY’ shows—the longest shows we’ve ever played—has brought us closer together, both musically and personally.

Our fans have touched our hearts and helped pull us together. Your love, energy and passion for this music have reminded us how much we still share and how much this journey means to all of us.

What began as ‘The Final Frontier’ now feels more like ‘The Long Goodbye.’ We’re letting our hearts—and the connection we feel with you every night—help guide what comes next.

Thank you for standing with us, singing with us and giving us so many reasons to keep playing. This journey belongs to all of us.

    With love and gratitude,

    Neal Schon Journey Founder”

Meanwhile, keyboardist Jonathan Cain, who had been embroiled in a since-settled legal battle with Schon, and had planned to exit after a couple more years, now says he’s leaving the door open to continuing with Journey for the long haul.

“When I started the tour I was definitely gonna hang it up, and I still don’t know what I want to do moving forward,” he told Ultimate Classic Rock. “I’m overwhelmed with the turnout on this tour. It’s so strong. The fans have just been terrific. I’ve always looked at it like, well, you’ve got to know when it’s time to walk away, but just judging from this turnout, maybe we think about it.”

He added, “Right now we’re focusing on this tour. We’ve played everywhere we can play, and we’ve really been beating the bushes. I think it’s time for a little bit of a rest, so we’re gonna leave it here and see what happens.”

Cain also told Ultimate Classic Rock that his relationship with Schon has improved greatly, saying, “We 90 percent agree on most things. There are certain things we don’t, and we just decided to be transparent about what we want. It’s a 45-year relationship. … There’s a real legacy that we both built, and I didn’t want the thing to end on a sour note.”

As of now, Journey’s fall tour will continue through a November 28th hometown show in San Francisco, with tickets available here. They’ve also been booked to play the Stagecoach festival in Indio, California, on April 24th, 2027.
