Kaizer Chiefs news, injuries & rumours: Baartman, Phili, Mayo, Dortley

Kaizer Chiefs have some mixed news on the injury front. Some key players are returning, while there are concerns over several others.
Kaizer Chiefs injury update
Although several Chiefs players are sidelined, it’s not all doom and gloom. Long-term absentee Langelihle Phili could be back in mid-October, while Rushwin Dortley was an unused substitute against Golden Arrows. The talented 24-year-old defender hasn’t played a competitive match for Chiefs since sustaining a serious knee injury in March 2025. His return will be a welcome sight for supporters. Khanyisa Mayo is also back in training following a hernia operation. Concerningly, talented 20-year-old attacker Luke Baartman was forced off with a thigh injury for South Africa U23S against Algeria.
Dortley 2.0
Kaizer Chiefs fans have been deprived of the talents of Rushwin Dortley for 18 months after he picked up a serious knee injury in March 2025. 24-year-old Dortley’s younger brother Emile is part of the academy setup at Naturena, and there are clear similarities in their playing styles.
When are Kaizer Chiefs next in action?
Chiefs have now drawn four of their seven league matches, dropping points in four of their last five. The goals have dried up somewhat too, with just a single strike in their last two matches. Wandile Duba, scorer of three goals in four Betway Premiership outings this term, is a big miss. Their next outing in the league is against Stellenbosch on Tuesday, 13 October at 19:30.
