Emmerdale airs shock Kev and Nicola scenes - but what happens next?

Emmerdale's Nicola King makes a rash decision after another run-in with Sadie King in the aftermath of Jimmy's death. Grief-stricken Nicola has been holing up at home after Jimmy's tragic passing as his ex-wife Sadie insisted that they had rekindled their relationship over the previous three years.

Sadie called at Nicola's in new scenes with receipts of her relationship with Jimmy, including loved-up pictures of them together.

"He didn't have time to run two lives, he could barely manage one," Nicola said as she scrolled through the snaps.

"It doesn't make sense," Nicola continued, asking Sadie why she never showed up while Jimmy was still alive.

"Because he wanted to wait until the kids were more settled," she replied. When Sadie proved that she knew details from Jimmy and Nicola's family life, the latter crumbled.

"I'm sorry for what he's done to both of us," Nicola finally said, before asking Sadie to leave.

Alone, Nicola turned to the bottle, pouring herself one glass of wine after another. When Kev Townsend showed up to talk shop, Nicola offered him a drink instead.

"If you wanna rant, cry, punch me in the face, whatever," Kev told her, saying he knew exactly how she felt. Nicola poured her heart out about Sadie's claims about Jimmy, with Kev calling him "a fool".

An emotional Nicola proceeded to relay to Kev all the sweet things Jimmy had said to her before dying and how they'd been planning to renew their vows prior to the accident.

Frustrated over Jimmy's supposed parallel relationship with Sadie, Nicola shattered her wedding pictures as she announced she would "get back on the horse" and download a dating app.

Kev tried to stop her, saying: "I'm not letting you wake up in the morning full of regret. Because I care about you."

Nicola then grabbed Kev's head and pulled him in for a kiss before she moved off in horror.

"I think you should go," she told Kev, who obliged. She then burst into tears and threw up in the sink, feeling sorry for herself.

Nicola Wheeler, who plays the character, previously confirmed that Kev would become a "surprising ally" to her character at a difficult time.

"I don't think I'm giving anything away in saying that Kev becomes a surprising help during her grieving process. Something happens, where all I can say is that Nicola behaves appallingly, but Kev is a gentleman. I think from that moment she starts to see him in a different light," the soap star said.

"Wait and see! Whether Kev wants it or not, I don't know! It's lovely and very well written. It shows a different side to each character, which I think would make the audience rally for them. But I think Kev is a surprising ally to Nicola – that's what he becomes."

Meanwhile, tonight's final scenes showed that Vinny Dingle was involved in the crash that caused Jimmy to drive straight into the marquee. A flashback sequence revealed the truth about the accident, as Vinny went to see Nicola to offer his condolences.

"Let me tell you this," Nicola told a concerned Vinny.

"The only person who should be sorry is whoever did this. And they better pray that the police find them before I do."
