Sabang immigration checks 10 foreigners, finds no violations

Banda Aceh, Aceh (ANTARA) - Sabang immigration officials inspected 10 foreign nationals entering through Balohan Port and found no immigration violations during a joint monitoring operation on Wednesday, October 8, the local immigration office said.

“The joint operation with the Foreigners Monitoring Team (PORA) is a proactive measure to ensure foreign nationals comply with Indonesia's immigration regulations,” said Muchsin Miralza, head of the Sabang Class II Immigration Checkpoint Office.

Speaking here Thursday, he said the operation reflected inter-agency cooperation to maintain security and uphold Indonesian law in territorial waters and border areas, particularly in Sabang, a nationally strategic tourism destination.

The joint team identified 10 foreign nationals entering through Balohan Port, Sabang’s main domestic gateway, and checked their passports and residence permits.

All 10 were found to be staying in Indonesia legally, with no immigration violations detected during the operation, he said.

“Although no violations were found this time, the operation is crucial to strengthening inter-agency cooperation and helping residents and tourists feel safe in Sabang,” Muchsin said.

The Sabang Immigration Office urged residents and tourism businesses to help monitor foreign nationals in their communities.

It encouraged the public to report suspicious activities or foreign nationals suspected of violating immigration regulations to the authorities.

“We remain committed to maintaining security and supporting Sabang’s tourism sector through professional services and enforcement that is humane but firm,” Muchsin said.
