Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis reveals update on season 5 hopes and comedy hit's long-term future

The season 4 finale of Ted Lasso left plenty of story threads that could be picked up in future runs, but didn't exactly end on a cliffhanger.

With no official news on the future of the show, this has therefore left fans concerned and questioning whether a fifth season is indeed in the offing.

Now, speaking on the Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso podcast, Ted star and show creator Jason Sudeikis said he "would like to" do more seasons and that "it’d be fun," but added that "it takes a village" to get the show made.

When asked if he thinks Apple would be open to more seasons, Sudeikis said that he "would assume so."

"I just don't know," Sudeikis said when pressed on season 5 chances. "We haven’t started a writers’ room or anything like that."

This aligns with statements the cast have made too, with Siobhan star Rex Hayes telling Radio Times that it would be "wonderful" if season 5 did happen.

Hayes added: "Hopefully this season will have lived in people's memories. I think that's what I'm holding on to, is that this has been such a joy, and I hope we get to do it again."

Meanwhile, Hayes's co-star Aisling Sharkey, who plays Niamh, added jokingly: "I'm not holding on to that. I need everyone to email Warner and Apple immediately. I need locations, I need people to take to the streets."

Sudeikis has previously suggested, speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, that he is hoping for the show to get two more seasons, so he will have completed a three-season arc focused on the Richmond women's team.

Season 4 ended with Ted demoting himself to assistant manager, allowing Alice to take centre stage as manager. Meanwhile, Rebecca got engaged to her boyfriend Matthijs, Roy and Keeley were expecting a baby, and Roy took a new job as manager at Chelsea.
