Phars Film will release Shah Rukh Khan starrer King, directed by Siddarth Anand, in international cinemas on December 24.

The film is opening day-and-date with its India release, where Pen Marudhar has distribution rights. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment in association with Marflix Pictures, King marks the highly-anticipated reunion of Khan and Anand following their 2023 blockbuster Pathaan.

Phars Film Chairman, Ahmad Golchin, said: “We at Phars Film feel it is an immense source of pride to bring King, featuring the renowned Shah Rukh Khan, to the big screen. For us, obtaining this distinguished deal represents a major achievement, and we are delighted to take a role in presenting a film of such scale and importance to the public.

“Since Shah Rukh Khan is a global icon and his cinematic influence knows no boundaries, it is both a privilege and a great source of pride for our whole team that we are bringing King to the big screen. We look forward to ensuring that this much-anticipated release becomes a truly unforgettable theatrical experience for audiences.”

Venky Mysore, CEO of Red Chillies Entertainment, said “We are delighted to have Phars Film as our overseas distributor for the much-anticipated film King. Phars’ extensive international reach and market expertise will significantly strengthen the films global prospects”.

Phars Film added in a press release that King is “already generating tremendous buzz among audiences, with its combination of edge-of-the-seat thrills, large-scale spectacle and star power promising a major cinematic event.”

The film is expected to further lift annual box office for Hindi-language films, both in India and internationally, which has already had a strong year with hits including Dhurandhar: The Revenge in March.

Tomorrow (November 5) sees the release of another big Bollywood production – Ramayana: Part 1, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra – which Sony Pictures Entertainment is distributing in international territories.
